Hunter to Hunted
Cut the chase
Chasing clients sucks. You know it. I know it.
Sending endless emails, making phone calls that you would get annoyed by, pitching your business to people who aren't actively seeking your services - desperately trying to convince them they need what you offer. It's draining, soul-crushing and more often than not these efforts lead nowhere.
In short: a complete and utter waste of time.
Then there's that shitty feeling you get IF you do actually convert one of these people into a client and they end up being a total pain in the arse. Maybe they try to squeeze you on your quote, give poor feedback only to go on and complain about the end result, or they are constantly challenging your decisions and advice. You put down the phone and all you want to do is put your face in a pillow and scream:
'WHY. THE. FUCK. DID YOU HIRE ME!'
We've all been there, working with clients who sap our energy instead of fuelling our creativity.
This situation is symptomatic of business relationships that lack trust - you're constantly having to prove yourself, justify your prices, and overcome skepticism instead of just focusing on doing what you do best – delivering awesome outcomes for your clients.
